-Promo Kits: Judas and Magnolia share their personal tips and tricks of the trade that are tried and true amongst entertainers nationwide on how to get the bookings you’re looking for at Renaissance and medieval faires. This is an online event, and it will include: –A presentation of Judas and Magnolia’s promo kit, including a Q&A. –Active workshopping on YOUR promo kit. To make the most of your time with us, please come prepared to take an active part in brainstorming your materials and content, and have the ability to take notes and make to do lists. If you’re an entertainer struggling to get bookings on the ren fest circuit and don’t quite know what to do about it, this presentation and workshop is designed to help you see the way forward and take concrete steps to help ensure your success. –Pricing, Contracts, and Negotiations: This workshop focuses on day rates is geared towards entertainers on the Renaissance (and medieval) festival circuit. The evening will include two parts, starting with a lecture on pricing, and then moving into a workshop with each class participant to discuss the nuances of their particular situation. Please come prepared to take notes, ask questions, and be an active participant in your workshop process. Class size limited to 7 participants, roughly a 2 hour class, $50
–Hawk Like You Mean It: Ever wondered how to promote your show in the lanes? Whether you’re a stage act, a street performer, or something in between, knowing how to hawk your show can make the difference between playing to a packed house or performing to empty benches. Class size limited to 7 participants, roughly a 2 hour class, $75 per person.
–How to Build a Tight 20: Create a 20 minute show for a 30 minute time slot. This will help performers strengthen the pacing and arc of their shows. Especially great for those stuck between bits. Class size limited to 5 participants, roughly a 3 hour class, $100 per person.
–Not My Monkey, Still My Circus: Kid Management for Faire Entertainers. Ideal for street and stage performers of all types who want to feel more confident and in control when the kids go wild and the parents go missing. Class size limited to 7 participants, roughly a 2 hour workshop, $75 per person.
–Hatpass 101: How to Ask for Money Without Apologizing. This class is especially relevant for anyone who has been on the circuit for 5 years or less, but all are welcome, including those who have been around for longer and are just looking to brush up on basics. Class size limited to 7 participants, roughly a 2 hour workshop, $50 per person.
–Branding Workshop: Build a Cohesive Identity. This is designed to help entertainers focus on consistency in their overall look and feel- both in person (costuming, merch, banners, promo kit) and online (social media, website, and fan platforms), utilizing the Temple Method. This class is a pre-requisite for the Fan Club Creation Workshop and Smart Merch Workshop. Class size limited to 5 participants, roughly a 3 hour workshop, $100 per person.
–Fan Club Creation: Turning One-Time Audiences into Lifelong Supporters. Go beyond the hat with premium offerings for your super fans on exclusive platforms such as patreon. The Branding Workshop is a pre-requisite for this class because we will be using the Temple Method to map out potential tiers and rewards. We also recommend taking Hatpass 101 before moving on to this higher level workshop. Class size is limited to 5 participants, roughly a 2.5 hour long class, $100 per person.
–Smart Merch for Your Brand and Audience: This workshop is for established performers who are looking to double their take away at the end of the faire day and connect with their audience in meaningful ways through smart merch choices. The Branding Workshop is a pre-requisite for this class because we will be leaning on the Temple Method covered in that class. Class size is limited to 7 participants, roughly a 2 hour class, $75 per person.
-Touring Logistics and Travel Hacks- Managing life on the road, from vehicle setup to finding places to stay. This class will cover packing and travel timelines, our favorite tips and tricks, as well as logistical suggestions. Never again miss gig and put yourself in danger of losing future contracts! Class size is limited to 10 participants, roughly an hour and half, $50 per person.
–Act Polishing / Show Critiques: Each attendee sends in their pre-recorded show and we help refine pacing, blocking, transitions, or jokes. Class size is limited to 5 participants, roughly a 2 hour long class, $150 per person.
